Details
The Heather at The Highlands is a classic northern Michigan championship course designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1966 as BOYNE Golf’s first course. Playing to 7,143 yards and a par 72 from the back tees, the layout combines strategic bunkering, demanding approaches, undulating greens, and beautiful northern Michigan scenery to create a challenging but rewarding round.
The Heather has built an impressive reputation over the years, hosting events including Michigan Amateurs and AJGA Championships, and was named the 2019 National Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association. The experience builds toward its memorable 18th hole, where golfers face a dramatic approach over water—a fitting finish to one of The Highlands’ signature golf experiences.
