Details

The Smith Signature Course at Treetops Resort in Michigan, is a scenic and challenging Rick Smith design that showcases the rolling terrain and natural beauty of Northern Michigan. Opened in 1993 as Smith’s first 18-hole design, the course was inspired by his study of classic courses in Scotland and Ireland, blending those traditional influences with dramatic elevation changes, tree-lined corridors, generous fairways, and strategically designed greens.

One of the Signature’s defining features is its fast, heavily undulating bentgrass greens, which Treetops describes as some of the most challenging on the entire property. Stretching to approximately 6,653 yards, the layout places a premium on smart approach shots and precise putting rather than sheer distance, while elevated tees and sweeping views add to the experience. The course has also earned notable recognition, including a #2 ranking in Golf Magazine’s “The Midwest: 25 More You Can Play.”
