The Donald Ross Memorial at The Highlands offers a truly unique northern Michigan golf experience, bringing together recreations of 18 renowned holes associated with legendary architect Donald Ross into one par-72 layout. The course draws inspiration from celebrated venues including Seminole, Pinehurst, Oakland Hills, Oak Hill, Scioto, Aronimink, Inverness, and more, giving golfers the chance to experience many of Ross’s signature design concepts in a single round.

Playing up to 6,814 yards, the course showcases the strategic bunkering, challenging green complexes, subtle contours, and shot-making decisions that define classic Ross architecture. BOYNE Golf has also undertaken renovations with Michigan architect Ray Hearn to more closely replicate Ross’s original designs using modern plans and technology, further enhancing the authenticity of the experience.

For golfers who appreciate classic course architecture and variety, the Donald Ross Memorial is one of the most distinctive rounds at The Highlands. Every hole brings a different piece of golf history to life, making it a memorable addition to any northern Michigan golf vacation.
